Weston Super Men won Banwell Football Club’s annual five-a-side tournament.

BANWELL Football Club hosted its annual five-a-side tournament, and with 24 teams entered, it was as competitive as normal.

Teams from all over the South West came to the Riverside Ground and were split into four groups of six teams, before the top four teams from each group progressed to the second round/knockout stages.

Banwell managed to get two sides through to the knockout stages, along with Stockwood and South Park, Weston Strikers, WSSFC, Mr Men FC, Dynamos, Weston Super Men, The Big Noise, Looney Tunes, Winscombe, Chancers and Obo Legends were the others that made it through the groups.

As the games came and went thick and fast, it was whittled down to the semi-finals where Weston Strikers beat WSSFC and Weston Super Men beat the last standing Banwell team Dads Army, to make it into the final.

In a tense final, it was Weston Super Men under the leadership of Jordan Kingman, eventually won the game 1-0 in an exciting game where both teams produced a great finish to a successful day.

Raffle winner was Damian Thomas, who walked away with four quarter-final Olympic men’s football tickets worth �100.
