WESTON Swimming Club is looking for local people to volunteer their time as swimming teachers in their Learn-to-Swim programme.

From its base at Hutton Moor Leisure Centre, the club offers social swimming sessions as well as competitive swimming and an active water polo squad.

Learn-to-Swim is the lifeblood of the club and remains extremely popular in Weston and beyond with parents who value the high quality teaching and friendly atmosphere.

There are currently over 100 swimmers in the classes, which cater for swimmers of all ages, from four upwards, and all abilities, starting with the Duckling Awards and continuing up to Stage 7 of the National Teaching Plan.

Lessons are held at Hutton Moor Leisure Centre on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday evenings from 7pm onwards.

Learn-to-Swim co-ordinator Tina Byatt said: “With the 2012 Olympics just around the corner, the excitement really seems to be building and this is having an extremely positive effect on kids in our area.

“Ideally we would like four more volunteer swimming teachers to teach various levels of swimmers. They can be qualified or unqualified as the club can help provide and pay for training and mentoring, although already qualified Level 2 teachers would be fantastic.”

If you are a swimming teacher or would like to be and can offer some time every week, even if it is just half an hour regularly each week, to help Weston Swimming Club, please contact Tina Byatt on 07900 271610 or email learntoswim@weston-super-mare-swimming-club.co.uk
