Team Mendip Reserves recorded a comfortable 4-1 victory over Wellington.

TEAM Mendip Reserves travelled to Wellington in the Somerset Ladies Division 1 and came away with a fine 4-1 success.

It only took 10 minutes for Amy Pougher to open her account with a great shot. Mendip scored three more goals in the first-half, coming from Ash Richards (2) and a penalty from Ellie Roberts.

The second half was quite uneventful, Mendip chased for a fifth, but playing down hill the ball ran away. Wellington didn’t pose any threats to the Mendip goal, apart from 10 minutes from the end, when they scored a consolation goal.

TEAM Mendip Under-11s Black Sox went into their toughest match of the season as underdogs against league leaders Yeovil Town Under-12s.

Mendip started nervously with Yeovil heading in a corner after five minutes,but they soon settled and some fantastic defensive football and great saves from keeper Abbie Delafield kept further Yeovil attempts at bay.

Mendip managed some great breaks seeing shots from Brooke Stirrup, Willow Hull and Lilly Stephens just wide of the Yeovil goal. Yeovil managed another header from a corner kick to double their lead at the break.

The second half saw a more confident Mendip raise their game, with further great goal shots from Bonnie Gready and Hull being well save. Hull was finally rewarded with a great goal to halve the deficit. Mendip continued to pressure, but could not find the equaliser before the final whistle

South West Property Maintenance player of the patch went to the whole team for a fine performance: Delafield, Daisy Robins, Jessica Selwyn, Stirrup, Stephens, Hull, Gready, Charlotte Morris, Chloe Morris, Ellie-Mae Brennan.

TEAM Mendip Red Sox made the short distance to Portishead looking for their fourth straight away win.

Mendip started brightly and pressed the Portishead defence for long periods. In an even first-half, Mendip just lacked a bit of quality in the final third to break the deadlock.

In the second half, Portishead started brightly and took the lead to go 1-0 up, but Mendip equalised almost immediately when Erin Hale found the roof of the net after a good pass from Annabel Cunningham.

The game ended 1-1, but both sides had chances to win it, but were denied by some fine goalkeeping at both ends.
