LOCAL football teams from Weston are invited to perform their filthiest tackles at the 2009 Swamp Soccer(r) New World Championships sponsored by SealSkinz Sport, taking place at the new Swamp Soccer Arena in Strachur, Argyll, Scotland, on Saturday and Sunday, June 27 and 28.
Teams from Weston will be provided with free pairs of waterproof, windproof and breathable socks to keep their feet keep warm, dry and comfortable.
Originating from the bogs of Finland, the tactics of swamp soccer are simple. Mixed or same sex teams of six players are required, with one goalkeeper, five outfield players and an unlimited number of substitutes.
The Swamp Soccer(r) New World Championships, sponsored by SealSkinz Sport, will take place on Saturday, June 27, 9am to 6.30pm, and Sunday, June 28, 9am to 6pm at Strachur, Argyll. Teams can register online at www.swampsoccer.co.uk until mid-June, with a team entry costing �115.
