The Toolstation Western League have called on clubs to nominate their unsung heroes to celebrate the contribution they have made to the game.

At the start of the first lockdown in March, the Western League launched the Think of a Fan campaign, to remember those supporters who have been hit the hardest by the stay at home restrictions.

At a time when so much publicity is focused on the negative impact the coronavirus pandemic is having on society, the League have contacted all clubs asking for their nominations.

And the heroes will be revealed across their media channels, including social media, the league website toolstationleague.com and on the weekly Toolstation Western League podcast, which will continue while football is suspended.

“Celebrating our League's unsung heroes is part of our campaign to Think of a Fan,” said Ian Nickolds, presenter of the podcast.

“We've focused a lot on what fans have lost during the pandemic. It's not just about the football, it's about friendships and socialising as well.

“So much of this has been about loss and by celebrating the work of the unsung heroes, we want to remind people about what’s best about our game and the people who make it what it is.

“These are the people who spend hours of their time making sure we get games on. They are the people who never ask for thanks, who put themselves out for others. So this is their time to get the credit they so richly deserve."
