MEGAN Rundle from the BW Controls Ltd Mini Red Academy squad won the Mini Red competition at the Avenue Tennis Club, Burnham, recently.

Megan won all three of her individual matches with Louis Bougourd coming second, Ellen Burrow third and Oliver Buncombe, in his first ever tennis competition coming fourth.

As there were not many players, the four keen tennis players played a doubles competition. Each player played a match against the others with the winners (Megan and Louis) being presented with life size hanging posters of Roger Federer and Andy Roddick by BW Controls Ltd Lee Fowler and Ellen’s dad Kevin Burrow.

Head coach Vinny Duddy thanked the players and their parents for coming and said that he hoped to see them again at the next competition on March 27 at 11am.

The next social doubles tournament at the tennis club will be on March 20 at 11am-1pm with some snacks provided afterwards in the bar. The cost to adults is 2, invited juniors 1. All new potential members are welcome to attend and play.

Duddy would like to remind parents and players alike that the new term will see a few timing changes with cardio tennis (fitness for adults – no need to be a tennis player) moving from Thursday to Wednesday at the new time of 7.30-8.30pm and the Thursday junior yellow ball squad moving to a later start time of 5.30-7pm. Coaching squads run every night of the week for all ages and standards.
