WESTON cricketer Pete Trego made the most of his first international call-up this week, ending as the top run scorer in the Hong Kong Sixes tournament.

The former Wyvern schoolboy relished his first taste of England duty, and clattered a series of big scores in the side's ill-fated bid to retain the trophy.

The 28-year-old all-rounder recorded scores of 35, 35 and 65 not out as England raced through the group stages.

Although the quest for the trophy ended in defeat and an eventual fourth place, Trego has boosted his future international prospects.

He said: "I thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the competition and had a great time.
