WESTON Swimming Club's junior section were invited to compete in the Jean Findley Junior Trophy Gala hosted by Keynsham Swimming Club.

The gala consisted of 49 races with the swimmers ages ranging between nine and 12 years old. Weston faced two teams from the Keynsham Club, the newly formed Sevenside Titans and Southwold.

Of the 49 races Weston took top spot an impressive 25 times, took six seconds, 15 thirds and two fourth places. The fantastic night's swimming by the youngsters resulted in the club winning the trophy for the first time.

Most impressive on the night were the club's relay teams, where they won 10 of the 14 races. Those taking the honours were the girls 11 and under medley team of Lucy Davies, Indea Lucas, Brooke Edwards and Emily Watkins. This was emulated by their male counterparts of Michael Harding, James Bramwell, Reece Trapani and Elliott Jenkins.

The girls went on to compete a double, winning the freestyle event, with the boys taking a third in theirs. The nine years teams matched their older team-mates with both the boys and girls winning the medley relays and taking second places in the freestyle relays, Alice Davies, Olivia Deacon, Lauren Hodgkin, Mary Gatehouse, Laura Maine and Alicia Pollard and the boys of Oscar Rogers, Joe Ham, George Reed, Mason Boobyer and Harry Burgess.

The 10 years relay team of Emily Watkins, Charlotte Bowden, Jasmine Moroney, Rebecca Lucas, Millie Dadds and Esme Bird won both their relays. With their male counterparts taking two third places, well done to Elliott Jenkins, James Bramwell, Joe Duran and Steven Eveleigh swimming against some strong teams.

In the oldest age group the 12 and under, the girls' teams of Holly Gullick, Sadie Coles, Jennie Kuht youngsters Lucy Davies and Indea Lucas won both their relay events, with the boys' team of Scott Bradley, Corey Voller, Jon Reep, James Gahame earning all important points for the club in their races.

In the individual events first places went to 10-year-old Millie Dadds in the 50m breaststroke (45.39), James Bramwell 10 years 50m breast (45.22) and 11 years 50m breast (45.92), Alicia Pollard 9 years 25m back (21.26) and 50m breast (45.92), Harry Burgess 9 years 25m back (21.26), Holly Gullick 12 years 100m back (1.15.01) and 100 freestyle (1.09.68). Indea Lucas 11 years 50m freestyle (33.80), George Reed 9 years 25m breast (26.57), Lucy Davies 11 years 50m back (37.37) and 50m breast (43.61), Lauren Hodgkin 9 years 25m fly (19.51), Will Daniel 25m fly (19.44) and freestyle (17.40), Jessie Dadds 9 years 25m freestyle (17.48).

Those taking second places were 10 years old Evan King in the 10 and under 50m fly (37.54) and 50m freestyle (34.51), Reece Trapani 11 and under 50m freestyle (34.07) and Rebecca Lucas 10 years 50m back (41.22).

Those taking thirds were James Bramwell in the 10 years 50m fly (42.48), Scott Bradley 12 years 100m back (1.22.98) and 100m freestyle (1.11.82), Lauren Maine 9 years 25m breast (24.09), Reece Trapani 11 years 50m back (40.11) and 50m fly (38.80), Brooke Edwards 11 years 50m fly (38.89), Joe Duran 10 years 50m freestyle (37.70), Elliott Jenkins 10 years 50m back (45.42) and Jon Reep 12 years 100m breast (1.41.39)
