Two hole-in-ones were recorded at Mendip Spring Golf Club just a few hours apart.
TWO hole-in-ones were scored just a few hours apart at Mendip Spring Golf Club.
In the ladies’ weekly Stableford competition, Jenny Roberts holed-in-one on the par three second hole. A few hours later, club chairman Mike Parker also achieved a hole-in-one on the same hole.
Matches are now in full swing and the Mendip Spring ladies’ inter-league team played Oake Manor in a home tie, winning 5.5 to 1.5. In a senior ladies’ match, Mendip Spring were less successful, losing 4-1 at Wedmore, with three pairs losing on the 18th hole.
In the Bristol and District League, a men’s team had an excellent 4-1 win at Kingsdown. A senior men’s team was less fortunate at Clevedon in a tie played in horrendous weather, only managing to halve one match.

The ladies were well represented in the prestigious Somerset Ladies’ Golf Championship held this year at Enmore. Both Heather Kerr-Wilbur and Helen Clarke made it through to the semi-finals of the Phillips Trophy and Clarke was the final winner of the match play championship, winning 3&2 over Rose Jarvis of Taunton and Pickeridge.
The club had two representatives in the West of England Amateur Championships held at the Royal North Devon Golf Club.

Sam Day and Will Poole both made the cut after two rounds, with Sam having a fabulous second round in atrocious conditions. He shot 73 when the standard scratch was a maximum 78, the best second round score. After four rounds he finished ninth out of 126 original entrants.
