GYMNASTS and coaches at Weston Aerobic Gymnastics Club have been waiting with fingers crossed to find out if any of the clubs international gymnasts have been selected for the 2011 British Squad.

The gymnasts’ scores throughout the past year are added up and the top scoring in each age category will be invited to join the 2011 Great Britain team.

So it was with great excitement that when British Gymnastics National Squad list was announced last week, four gymnasts had made the grade and will be training alongside the rest of the best in the country.

Current British champions Matt Saunders and Abi Butterfield have again been selected for their fourth successive year as a mixed pair, and British champion Matt has this year been selected for his individual routine as well in the 12-14 age group.

The younger mixed pair from the club, Rhys Williams and Keira Landen, have been selected for both their individuals and their pairs, despite injury keeping Rhys out of the British Cham-pionships.

This terrific result for the club is testament to the hard work and commitment of the gymnasts and their coaches, and the club is now looking forward to yet more international success in 2011.

Due to the massive success, the club has started a new mini gymnastics session for gymnasts aged 3-6 years on Friday evenings and any parents wanting their children to join this family orientated club, please phone Debbie Saunders on 07779 802110.
