Two King Alfred boxers took to the ring in Bristol recently.

LOCAL King Alfred boxers were in action at the weekend in Bristol.

First in to the ring was Charles Criddel, who was against local boy Wesley Taylor from Downend. Criddel lost narrowly on points, but put up a brave effort. Most of Criddel’s success came in the last round, but it was too late.

Next in the ring was Danny Keen, who was up against another local boy, Tom Williamson from Downend. Williamson had the height and weight advantage and in the first round Williamson came on strong, but Keen caught him with solid hooks to the head.

In the second and third rounds, Keen picked up the pace and caught Williamson with a cracking blow, sending him into the ropes for a standing count. Keen also caught Williamson with some solid hooks to the body to record a unanimous decision. Training nights is on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6.30-8pm. Call 01278 794087 for more information.
