Playing away against a strong Nailsea side, Saints won two of the three rinks.

Myra Bailey’s triple were the first to finish with a hard fought win, followed by Ann Campbell’s foursome, who were never in trouble and finished with a comfortable 22 shot victory.

The pair of Carolina Venn and Meg Favis had a hard time and went down by three shots, but the game was won and Nailsea conceded the pairs.

The ladies also had two friendly games, which resulted in one win and a draw.

Congratulations go to Barrie Forse for his fine win in the area final of the National Over-60 singles at Taunton Deane. The 21-12 victory sends him to the national finals for the third successive year, this time to Melton Mowbray.

On Saturday, St Andrews proudly host the zone final of the National Ladies Pairs. Local duo Stephanie Branfield and Laura Holden from the Clevedon club are sure to be well supported when they face opponents from Bridgwater BCL.

Action gets underway at 10am. With the same start time that day, Saints are in County League action against a strong Bristol side.

The Chasers serene progress towards victory in the Pro Wash Open Triples League continued with another fine win, this time against their nearest rivals, the Jackpots. Tony Yeeles, Phil Villis and Paul Aldus found it hard going in the early exchanges, but ultimately closed out the match in fine style.

Mike Berry, Will Harrison and Barrie Forse kept the Yankees in touch with an 18-6 win over the Trebles, but it was the Fillies who provided the shock of the round with their second win of the season. Jan Kimmins, Brenda Pye and Monica Pattenden stunned the Goodwoods with a comfortable 21-13 win.
