Captain Paddy Holyday said Uphill Castle CC’s game with Bridgwater thirds is “crucial” in their battle to beat the drop in the Monmouth Specific Limited Somerset Premier this Saturday.

Uphill are currently in ninth place, one of two relegation places, and victory this weekend could see them move out of the drop zone.

Holyday confirmed the Castle are happy to welcome Luke Bliss and Ryan Davies back into the side this weekend.

And he said his side will give it everything to come away with a result and move up the table.

“It’s a crucial game for us on Saturday, it really is a must win,” said Holyday.

“A good result will take us ahead of Bridgwater, depending on bonus points.

“You never really know what to expect from them, as it’s their third XI, so the side will often rely on the availability of the teams above.

“We’ll just go into the game with confidence and give it our all.”

With six games left of the season, Holyday says the next four matches are “massive” in their quest to beat relegation.

After Saturday’s encounter with Bridgwater, Uphill have two home games against Temple Cloud and Long Sutton before they are back on the road at Lympsham & Belvedere.

Long Sutton, Lympsham & Belevdere and Bridgwater currently occupy eighth, seventh and sixth in the table and Holyday believes his side have what it takes to come away from each one with victory.

He continued by saying he has confidence in his side to beat the drop and stay in this division.

He added: “The next four games are massive for us, playing the sides around us.

“We know we can beat anyone in this division so will go into the back end of the season with confidence, knowing we need to starting picking up more wins.

“Yes, I have confidence in my team, and believe we will get the results we need.

“We’ve struggled this season with player availability, and without that I honestly feel like we would be fighting near the other end of the division.

“It’s crucial we get through this patch and stay in this division.”
