Uphill Castle Cricket Club held its presentation evening at Worlebury Golf Club.

MORE than 80 Uphill Castle players, members and guests enjoyed the annual dinner and presentation night, organised by the 2014 clubman of the year Andre Cox.

Worlebury Golf Club hosted the night and before a superb three-course meal, the guests respected a minute’s silence to remember the passing of long established members including Charles Wallis-Newport (Wally) and more recently Brian Watts.

Following the meal, the awards were handed out and Adrian Gardener received a life membership for his tireless efforts over the years, including sorting sponsorship, kit and the annual Big Bash cricket and music festival which raises valuable funds for the club.

Retiring Somerset bowler Steve Kirby presented the awards and held a question and answers session, sharing his cricketing moments and success including those at Gloucester and Yorkshire.

Also in attendance was Somerset and Uphill Castle all-rounder Pete Trego, who next year will be celebrating a benefit year. The evening finished with live music from Jordan, Stars of Vegas.
