Uphill Castle moved to the top of the table after a excellent victory at Burnham United.

Uphill Castle 4

UPHILL Castle soared to the top of the table courtesy of this impressive win on the road which extends their winning run to eight games across all competitions.

The result was built on a solid defence who recorded their third consecutive clean sheet.

The Castle went in front on 10 minutes when Jack Askins’ through ball set Cameron Milkins through to open the scoring. Uphill held their lead until the break, despite Burnham creating the better chances.

Top scorer Jordan Elliot came off the bench and immediately caused havoc in the home defence. Elliott saw a shot was well saved by Mark White, only for the ball to bounce back into the net via the unfortunate Colin Toms.

Askins increased the advantage with a 25-yard effort that crept through the legs of White, and after good work from Michael Deane, Askins added his second and the Castle’s fourth with a low finish.

The man of the match award, kindly sponsored by Fusion Fish & Chips and Chinese Takeaway and Oriental Restaurant, went to Scott Muirhead.

On Saturday, Uphill host a top of the table clash in Division Two West of the Somerset County League against 1610 Taunton United (2.30pm).
