Uphill Badminton Club’s A team dominated a one-sided match against Portishead

UPHILL Badminton Club’s A team played away to Portishead in a one-sided match in which Uphill dominated all the rubbers played.

The Uphill team consisted of Ellie Jewell, Christy Langford, Emily Page-Symmonds, Paul Edwards, Matt Cole and Mark Edwards.

All rubbers were won convincingly in two games with some excellent finishing by an in-form Uphill team to maintain top spot in Division 1 of the North Somerset Badminton League.

Uphill men’s team played at home to Clevedon Feathers A team. The hosts acquitted themselves well with some close scoring games, but Clevedon had the edge all through the match and ran out 6-0 winners.

The Uphill E team played at Chew Valley B and lost 9-0, a reverse result of the home match. The Uphill team consisted of players from the junior club - Lelia Whitehouse, Chloe Palmer, Georgia Wood, Will Bennett, Ryan Collins and Tom Miller.

One could call this a baptism of fire for two players making their debut in competitive league matches and was good experience for the juniors.

The club is one of the biggest in the West Country and welcomes juniors of all ages to train and develop their skills on Saturdays at the Hans Price Academy Sports Centre. Further details can be found through the website at www.uphillbadminton.co.uk
