Hosts Uphill Castle Hares fell short in the first round of the National 20/20 competition.

UPHILL Castle hosted the first round of the National 20/20 club competition in glorious sunshine.

In the first game, Wembdon scored 165-7 and Uphill Castle Hares could only managed 142-9. In the second game, Glastonbury scored 191-6 to defeat Wembdon (161-9).

This meant it was all to play for, if Uphill Castle Hares won the final game it would come down to run rate between the three teams. Glastonbury amassed 181-6 leaving the Hares needing to get the runs off only 17.4 overs to go through with a better run rate. Uphill set about chasing the runs but fell well short on 129-9 off their allotted 20 overs.

The entertainment did not stop there as James Holt had his hair shaved off to raise funds for the club and Gavin Cox entertained as the sun set on a glorious day.
