WESTON were determined to improve on their disappointing performance of last week, when they entertained Taunton Civil Service at Priory.Weston attacked straight away, a fine passing movement between Jane Watkins, Rosie Bellinger and Michelle Aldridge resulted in a penalty corner being awarded.Mich Aldridge's hit out was collected at the top of the circle by Vanessa Mawford, who netted for the fastest goal of the season.From the restart, Weston attacked again, Alex Naughalty combining well with Watkins. Another penalty corner was awarded to Weston. This time Bellinger collected the ball and slipped it to Mawford, who in turn found Aldridge to beat the keeper.Weston were 2-0 up within five minutes, a fantastic start. From the restart, Taunton steadied themselves and started to find their feet, but Weston defended superbly.Lucy Clarke, Hazel Mosely and Charli Crandon were on top of their game and sweeper Mawford worked hard to clear the ball. On several occasions when Taunton did break through, keeper Stacey Capel was quick to react to clear the danger.In the second half, Weston began to get on top again, Charli Dale, Becky Watkins, Naughalty and Watkins all worked hard to get the ball forward.Weston were awarded another penalty corner, the ball was slipped to Watkins, who finished with a fine shot giving the keeper no chance.Weston got their final goal when a fine run by Aldridge split the Taunton defence and her pass found Dale, who finished well and sealed a fine team performance for Weston.Player of the match was awarded to Charli Crandon. Tomorrow (Sat), Weston play their final league game of the season away to ISCA.Weston Ladies 2nd XI 1 ECVH Ladies 3The Seconds run of wins was short lived when they travelled to Collumpton in their latest Sedgemoor fixture.From the push back, Weston had the majority of the play, but struggled to move forward with the ball. Their midfield of Amy Taylor, Nikki Baker, Sophie Lanham and Hayley Blackborow worked hard and Sophie Lanham showed plenty of energy.At half time, Weston brought on Jade Edwards into the midfield where her energy and skill were needed but Weston were soon trailing when keeper Kerry Westgate was beaten.Soon after, ECVH broke through to score two more goals. Weston's goal came from an unexpected run in midfield. Lanham passed the ball to Baker, who scored a well-deserved goal.Player of the match was jointly awarded to Kerry Westgate and Jade Edwards.
