Garry Cattermole played well despite missing serves to Vets players, managing to come out on top with three. Colin Butterworth and Roger Crump took a game each from him. Ann Sandford with two wins lost to a steady Renegades’ Dave Williams. Despite being inconsistent in the close doubles, Sandford and Crump emerged winners against Williams and Trevor Jones.

Winsc Rebels’ Dave Hunt started his season by winning all three singles without loss against Totterdown C. He was joined by Rob Hansen also on three points, though losing one game each to Mark Price and Gary Chell.

Rick Cross was successful against Mike Baker for the one point for Totterdown, the second one coming in a tough doubles with Price and Chell keeping Baker and Hansen at bay in the fifth. Rebels took the match 8-2.

Rebels and Revolutions enjoyed a good evening of table tennis in an evenly balanced match despite losing 3-7 in their first home game played on their new table.

Revolutions’ Graham Cheeseman with three wins had a tough five-setter versus Dave Hunt. Rob Hansen claimed two, beating Kiem Mu and Neil Clements.

In Division 2, Daemons began well with a 25-13 winning match over C & C Cobras. New player Chris Kerridge, playing in his first match for 20 years, did well to beat Cobras’ Simon Thomas in three, but found John Barker and Rick Hutchinson too strong.

Despite losing the first of each of his matches, Bert Hiscock went on to take all three. Jason King also three, was two down to Hutchinson, but in a tight contest came through 16-14 in the fifth.

Bleadon Vets C team, up against a depleted Winsc Warriors team, came through 30-3.Anne Baker took two games from Roger Norville and teamed with Warriors’ Peter Joiner took the second game from Vets’ Jon Codd and Tony Chedgy.

Totterdown Flamingos were too strong a team for the youngsters of C & C Banwell. Flamingos’ Jason King won all three without loss, though Beth Atkinson pushed him hard 10-12 in the third. Graham Cheeseman lost one game to Man Jeremiah. Jeremiah played well, beating Trevor Williams in five. Flamingos won 23-9.

In a first season’s win for the Cobras 24-10 against Winsc Warriors, they were helped by Rick Hutchinson with three wins and the loss of one game to Warriors’ Anne Baker.

Baker beat both Simon Thomas and John Barker in close contests. Dave Parker had one game from Barker and teamed with Baker to just miss out on the doubles.

C & C Banwell were up against the experienced Daemons team, who came out with a 30 -2 win against the youngsters. Banwell’s two points after hard fought games and long rallies came from Max Jeremiah from Jason King. Martin Weston took the first game from Bert Hiscock.

Winsc Wayfarers’ Sam Mullick, Phil Yates and Simon Kneeshaw all overcame Flamingos’ Cronin Lyudmila and Andrew Cheeseman to clock up 18 points between them and with the loss of one to Lyudmilla. A 3-2 doubles win gave Wayfarers a 21-12 winning match.
