Victoria travelled across town to play St Andrews in the Turnbull Cup but on a tricky green and against a strong home side lost on all four rinks.

In the Weston Triples KO Cup at home to Ashcombe Crusaders they returned to form with a 13-shot winning margin with Harrison Whyte, Don Wheatley and Steve Davies leading the way with an excellent 20-shot advantage.

The Saxons enjoyed a double in the Weston & District Triples League against Burnham-on-Sea, winning 86-49 at home and 76-47 away securing a total of 22 points to put them at the top of the league.

The Vikings lost heavily to Ashcombe Knights and Wedmore and there were mixed results in four friendlies played with a 17-shot winning margin over a touring team Gilfach Goch and a comprehensive three-rink win against Winscombe.

Bristol Arrows visited for a four-rink friendly and won by seven shots despite Nigel Robbins leading his rink of Graham Robbins, Mike Manning and John Smart to a four-shot win.

Victoria Ladies beat Keynsham in the Top Club, with the pair of Hannah Frye and Kay Wilson and the triple of Margaret Kelly, Brenda Williams and Sue Harrison contributing to the 15-shot success.

And a trip to Somerton in the Fear Cup saw three rinks skipped by Wilson, Sue Cooper and Annie Holland achieve an emphatic victory, but in the next round at Yeovil the ladies suffered a narrow five-shot loss, with Maureen Slavin, Williams, Fiona Waters and skip Cooper having the only success.

In the Weston Triples League the ladies were comfortable winners at home to Wessex and also at Congresbury, while St Andrews were the visitors in a Somerset League game where each side had one big rink win.

The third rink was a marginal defeat for Victoria but the 19-shot winning margin on the rink led by Nancy Whyte with Frye and Sue Sokol ensured a creditable draw.

The Blues played Wedmore in the Mendip League and one winning triple of Dot Gibbs, Sandra Milliner and Wilson was enough to achieve a well deserved draw.
