Victoria men recorded their first victory of the winter against Isle of Wedmore.

VICTORIA Bowling Club men were inspired by the recent win by the ladies to record their first victory of the winter, beating Isle of Wedmore by 20 shots.

In a four-rink game, Victoria won on three rinks with pride of place going to an excellent 15-shot rink win by Pete Wyatt, Graham Richards, Dave Fairhurst and skip Mike Stocker.

Club captain Cliff Chudley is convinced this change of fortune coupled with the new year will see many more positive results during the remainder of the winter season.

Victoria 81, Isle of Wedmore 61 – home: P Wyatt, G Richards, D Fairhurst, M Stocker Victoria 29-14; D Williams, R Austin, C Chudley, M Taylor Victoria 19-13.

Away: H Whyte, T Gatehouse, P Fisher, M Campbell 18-13; J Newman, L Kelly, K Harvey, B Stock 16-20.

IN the return match against St Andrews, Woodspring won by just one point.

The mixed match against Puriton saw Woodspring win on both rinks. Rink one romped home to a 27-12 victory with some good bowling.

On rink two, it was a hard fought game and on the penultimate end it was all square at 12-12. The Woodspring skip took the jack back to give them three shots in the last end.
