Hornets Colts ran out comfortable winners against Gordano in their penultimate league game.

Hornets Colts welcomed Gordano to The Nest in the penultimate league game and ran out comfortable 53-20 winners.

Good pressure at the line-out forced an error by Gordano and a quickly-taken free kick saw Counsell burst through to score, converted by Humphris.

Aplin, Constable and Brimble set a solid platform for Hartley and Parkman and the new back row of Francis, Locker and Jacob Cox, who was outstanding all day. Taylor was distributing quality ball and when Wall cut a perfect line, his strength got him over.

Next from a line-out, Constable collected and sped off with Francis in hot pursuit, who offloaded to Turner at full speed. Holyday made several breaks and Counsell was quick to respond to failings in Gordano’s defence and got another.

Turner burst down the wing and when stopped, he found Constable on hand to finish off a great try by the prop, converted by Humphris.

Right on half-time, Francis capped a superb half by reaching out to score, converted by Humphris.

The second half saw new squad members join the fray and Hornets earned a scrum inside the Gordano’s 22. A classic move from the base of the scrum saw Williams surge over.

Francis was next to score, assisted by Dolcezza and converted by Williams. Fly-half Williams scored next when he ghosted through to make it 53-0.

To their credit, Gordano never gave up and finished the game with three tries of their own to earn a bonus point.

Hornets now look forward to their top of the table clash next week away to Cleve as both sides are currently unbeaten. And with a county cup final on the horizon, there is all to play for.
