WITH a depleted side due to Weston Academy not allowing their players to play plus holidays, Worle picked up another three points to keep their good run going.

This was a rather fortuitous win for the home side as Westlands hit the woodwork four times, plus great goalkeeping from Matt Hill kept the home side in the lead. Shots from Rich Lloyd, Pete Churchill, Jack Riney and Ian Leadbetter were all denied by the post and bar.

Westlands were the better side in the first half, but it was a great goal from Simon Hewish who spotted the keeper of his line and beat him from a full 35 yards.

Worle were indebted to Osborne, Potter and Downs in a back three to keep out the lively Westlands side.

Going in 1-0 up at the break the home side came out a lot better in the second half with Somers and Evans up front giving cause for concern for the away defence.

Worle’s man of the match was Matt Hill

The cup final venue and date has now been sorted with Worle playing Long Ashton at Wells City on May 17 (7.30pm).
