AVON Ski Club returned with one gold and two silver medals from the Welsh Open and the Welsh National Championships, as well as another gold from Charlotte Davies.

The championships were held in Pontypool and saw two of Avon’s rising stars score first and second place in the Under-10 section. With George Case lying second after the first run and Oliver Mathew third, they had it all to do in the second run.

George finished 4.95 seconds ahead of Oliver, who squeezed into second place by a mere 0.2 seconds.

Charlotte Davies, now skiing for Gloucester, won the ladies’ open by a combined 2.83 seconds.

The following day was the Welsh Open Championships and unfortunately George was unable to take part, but Oliver continued his good form by taking the silver medal.
