Renowned for its fast flat course, Clevedon midsummer 10k race is always popular with runners eager to run their fastest time for the distance, and this year’s race was no exception.
It attracted a strong field of 555 runners from across the area, 62 of them from Weston Athletic Club.
Conditions were reasonably calm, if a little on the warm side, and this allowed the club’s members to put their training to the test and aim for fast times.
Chris McMillan continued his excellent form to finish second in the race in 32.40. Kieron Summers finished fifth overall and was second in his category, with Will Fuller the third Weston male with a new personal best time of 36.41.
Susan Duncan was the first of the club’s women to finish with a new personal best of 40.58. Nia Davies followed in 42.54 and Michelle Fryer soon after in 43.21, both also achieving their fastest times.
The achievements continued for the club’s females with Carol O’Leary winning her age category and Pam Withers finishing third in hers.
All in all it was a successful night’s running for the club with 28 members finishing their fastest ever 10k run.
