Weston Hockey Club continued their winning streak with an away victory at Bristol & West.
BRISTOL & WEST 1
WESTON ventured to Bristol where they played Bristol and West in Winterbourne and came away with a comprehensive victory.
The game began with Weston pushing high to pressure the Bristol defence and this paid off with multiple chances. A goal came from Weston’s star player Hancock, who hit the ball on the reverse into the net.
The next goal came after defender Hector made a great tackle. He executed a well-timed pass through to central midfielder Watkins, through to Kearsey, who dribbled around the Bristol defenders into the attacking D. This well-worked routine made its way to Sully, who slapped the ball into the bottom corner.
Soon after the ball found Kearsey again, who made quick work making his way past defenders into the last attacking quarter, resulting in a penalty flick, where Hancock flicked in the top left corner.
The second half started again with a well-worked goal from the back, involving many Weston players. The ball began with Turner and Hector, who played a one-two to set up Sully to score.
The goals kept coming and Hancock, after a bouncing pass, hit the ball on the volley which rocketed passed the keeper, soon followed by another Hancock goal.
Bristol hit back to score a consolation goal, before a string of passes eventually left Hancock free to lob the keeper.
The final play came from Hancock making a pass towards Heal, who did well to control the ball and hit it into the bottom corner.
The final score was 8-1 to Weston, retaining the league top spot. Man of the match was awarded to Hancock, continuing to be the top goal scorer in the club and the West Region.
