Weston got back to winning ways with a thrilling 6-4 victory over City of Bath.

WESTON got back to winning way with an entertaining 6-4 victory over City of Bath at Priory School.

The home side started strongly with great link-up play between midfield players Sully and Etchells, who freed Hancock to go on a dazzling run before sending the ball in to the top corner from a tight angle.

Weston found the net two more times in quick succession, with another from Hancock and the second was an own goal after some great stick work from Turner.

Despite being 3-0 down, City of Bath were causing the Weston defence of Brees, Hector and Bryant many problems and were lucky that goalkeeper Canter was in fine form, making a number of top class saves.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to stop a Bath player dribbling through five or six Weston players before placing the ball in the back of the net. Another goal soon followed for the away team as Weston led 3-2 at the break.

The second half was a close encounter with both teams battling hard. The home team earned a short corner after good play from Davies. Turner, with his best drag-flick of the season, buried the ball into the corner of the net.

Soon after, Bath pulled two goals back and Hancock missed a penalty stroke. But endless running from Heal and McCarthy at the end created opportunities for Hancock to complete his hat-trick and Heal to grab another putting the game to bed.

Weston eventually won 6-4 showing great character after a hard fought loss the week before. Man of the match went to Canter for some fine saves in goal which helped his side go back to top position in Central 2.

On Saturday, Weston face a tricky top of the table clash away to Minehead.
