David Snowdon took third on countback with 68, ahead of gerald Taylor, as Roger Magor pipped John Morgan to fifth after both shot 69.

Four others carded 70s, with Stephen Roberts finishing ahead of John Poole, Raymond Harris and Michael Mantell.

The Seniors Open attracted 137 entries from all over England and Wales, from Bridlington in the north to Felixstowe in the east.

Ed Langford and Tony Roper won 2&1, as Chris Slocombe and John Humphrey lost one down.

Filer and David Andow won 3&2, but Geoff Seaman and Mo Sweeney were beaten and Allan Tucker and Robin Webb lost four holes in a row to go down 4&3.

Terry Waite and John Dixon rallied to square their match on the 13th and won on the last to ensure honours finished even.

Weston booked a Somerset Bowl quarter-final spot with a 3-2 win at Burnham & Berrow.

Dave Bickell and Mike Dyer lost one down to a birdie on the last, but Filer - putting well after a lesson from Dan Toogood - and Corrick won 2&1.

Andy Chambers and Chris Slocombe had a 3&2 win, with Matt Lazenby and John Whitewood winning the last two holes for a two up victory.

John Stokes and Mark Fozzard lost the last match 2&1 but Weston went through nonetheless.

The Weston Club Championships needed extra holes to decide a winner, after Sam Fernley and George Worthington finished on 141.

Fernley won the play-off to be crowned champion, as Kevin Jones finished third on 142.

Adam Sloan (144), Joshua Freeman 9145), Clive Stilwell (146), Darren Henderson (146), Matthew Shaw (147), Matt Evans (147) and Adam Pearson (149) completed the top 10.
