Weston have launched their Seagulls Supports Local Artists campaign in an effort to give local musicians much needed exposure after the coronavirus pandemic put gigs on hold.

Every home matchday a local artist and their featured song will be played on The Optima Stadium's PA system and promoted on the club's social media channels.

Tim Clarke, the club’s match day announcer, who created the campaign, said he’s delighted to help promote local talent.

"Coming from someone who craves being on stage and performing, I know how hard this lockdown has been. We hope to generate a new group of listeners to the artist," he said.

“I am thankful that the club have supported me with this and speaking with other local sport PA announcers, they have all said that they will bring it up with their clubs to see if it is something we can do over the UK.

“There are so many unsigned amazing artists that this is a platform to help them. It doesn't cost anything and hopefully it could benefit both club and artist long term."
