Weston Mendip fell to a 4-1 defeat by Frampton Rangers Ladies on Sunday (February 6).

The strong wind and driving rain were against Mendip in the first-half and Rangers took full advantage as Gabby Menghini opened the scoring when a Abigail Miles clearance caught in the wind and fell directly into Menghini’s path.

Goals from Lucie Hulin and Brodie Olive followed on 20 and 25 minutes as Mendip battled against both the elements and a strong Frampton team who sit third in the South west Region League.

Mendip quelled the onslaught and managed to reduce the deficit with a well struck shot from Josie Cherson.

Encouraged to keep the ball on the ground Mendip improved with some good passing moves and were unlucky when Charlotte Suktem hit the upright.

Mendip responded well to the half-time team talk and were the better side throughout the second-half.

Amelie Ford and Lilly Stephens combined well to create several chances but it was Frampton who scored on the break through Amber Day who dashed all hopes of a Mendip come back.

Despite this Mendip still continued to dominate the game Erin Duffy and Stephens going close.

PD & CL Building Services girl of the game went to Lily Stephens for a quality performance in midfield.
