Manager Scott Bartlett says Weston AFC need to find that “level of consistency” and believes his squad can do “better” ahead of welcoming Salisbury to The Optima Stadium this Saturday.

The Seagulls fell to their first defeat in three matches in all competitions with a 2-1 defeat to Yate Town on Tuesday night.

Ollie Mehew had opened the scoring for the Bluebells before Prince Henry grabbed Weston an equaliser to send both sides into the interval all square.

However, Yate’s Joe Tumelty popped up to score the winner 18 minutes from the end.

But Bartlett says their next focus is putting Tuesday night’s loss behind them by welcoming the Whites for their fourth home match in a row.

He said: “The next game can’t come quick enough. I can’t wait to get them back in Thursday and sit down with them.

“I will watch this game (against Yate Town) back and see where we go because for the budget we have got I think we have built a really good squad. It’s my job to get the best out of them.

“I think we are getting a lot out of them individually but as a team we are either excellent or we get beat.

“It’s like we just need to find a level of consistency and the way we want to play, it’s difficult.

“At times it’s difficult at this level to do that consistency but that is the club philosophy, that is my philosophy and we have built a squad capable of doing better than we are at the moment. “

Saturday’s meeting will be the first between the two sides since last October where Salisbury came out on top after coming from behind to win by two goals to one at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium.

And with The Whites currently unbeaten in their last five league games and yet to taste defeat on the road this season, Bartlett says they will go into the match all prepared.

“Salisbury are a big powerful team I get on really well with (manager) Steve Claridge we speak a lot,” Bartlett added.

“There won’t be anything we don’t know about them and there will be nothing they don’t know about us.

“Like most teams in the league there’s footage available you can watch and do all your homework.”
