WESTON Netball Club has become one of only a handful of netball clubs in the south west region to achieve its Silver CAPS (Club Action Planning Scheme).
CAPS is a national accreditation scheme built around a set of core criteria. Clubs achieving this accreditation are recognised nationally as having a well-run club which is active and accessible.
Aligned to the Sport England Clubmark accreditation scheme, which is the only national cross sport quality scheme for clubs with junior sections, CAPS insures that clubs operate to a set of consistent, accepted and adopted minimum operating standards.
As it is a recognised status, there are lots of benefits to becoming a Silver CAPS club. With a raised profile, the club is more likely to increase and retain members, be able to develop coaches, umpires and volunteers and develop good links with local schools.
Hellen Gilmore, who, along with Lucy Holder, was instrumental in achieving the Silver CAPs status for the club said: “We are really proud to have achieved Silver CAPS accreditation which ensures that we as a club provide the delivery of netball and its coaching at a recognised standard in line with England Netball and acknowledges the hard work and commitment of club members to ensure the club is safe, effective and child friendly.
“We will now be looking towards taking this commitment a step further and going for our Gold CAPS accreditation.”
