Thirteen Weston Athletic club runners took part in the Wellington 10-mile road race.
A TEAM of 13 Weston Athletic Club members took part in the Wellington 10-mile road race which covers a pretty, but hilly route along country lanes.
Steve Kibblewhite continued his current run of strong form, finishing sixth overall, and first for the club, in 1.07.23. Paul Snelling took second club spot in 1.15.21, and Dave Elliott finished third in 1.17.59.
Nia Davies completed the course in an impressive 1.18.48, and was third female overall. Mary Nutley and Edel Robbins took second and third for the club’s women in a close finish of 1.26.22 and 1.26.24 respectively.
Meanwhile, closer to home, three of the club’s members had just completed the Olympic distance triathlon event at Burnham. The race started with a 1,500 metre swim in a challenging choppy sea, followed by 40km on the bike, and then a 10km run.
Just two weeks after his full Ironman at Nice, David Stock was back in the saddle again, and first club member to finish the course in 2.26.49, eighth overall. Simon Andrews was next, in 3.10.27, followed by Nick Cook in 3.45.02.
Entry is now open for the new season of Weston Athletic Club’s five mile prom runs - a series of nine races from September to May on Weston seafront. More information on all the club’s races and becoming a member can be found at www.westonac.co.uk
