Weston came from behind to defeat Keynsham in their latest Somerset Super League Darts match.

WESTON entertained Keynsham at the 49 Club in the Somerset Super League Darts.

Currently in fourth spot with six wins from seven, Weston needed another solid performance to try to push up the table.

Weston got off to a flyer with Gary Howell (20.31) and Clint Harding (26.08) both winning 3-2. Weston let it slide on board two losing two games before Dan Batchelor fought well for a 3-2 win.

Board one had some strong players on with George Turnbull (26.80) winning 3-2, swiftly followed by the flying Dutchman, Martin Van Edgemeister (24.01) winning 3-1. The game of the night was by Ricky Harding, who went to town on his opponent, hitting a 180 in a 3-0 win, finishing with an impressive 31.06 average.

Meanwhile, on board two, Paul Tyler registered a 3-1 victory (21.59). Keynsham got back in the match with the last few games and took a narrow lead going into the pairs.

Things went from bad to worse as the first pair lost 3-1, but this was put right by 3-0 victories by Turnbull and Batchelor and Ricky and Clint Harding, giving Weston the edge 31-28.

Howell and Slattery won 3-2 and Cope paired with Van Edgemeister (180) nailed the game with a 3-0 win giving Weston victory. The night was finished off with captain Nick English and Phil Mitchell winning 3-0 to complete a 40-30 victory.

Man of the match went jointly to Ricky Harding and Martin Van Edgemeister.

The next game is away to Barley Trojans in Wellington on April 27. The bus leaves the 49 Club at 6.45pm.

THE 49ers travelled to first division high-flyers Yeovil for their latest Somerset Super League match.

Yeovil got off to a great start winning the first three games. Terry Hayes then stepped up and stopped the rot with a fine display, winning his game 3-0 and recording an average of 20.31.

Yeovil hit back and held a comfortable 15-7 lead. Steve Thirkettle responded with a 3-0 win and an average of 21.05. Mike Norton (24.65) was next to keep the recovery going with a good 3-2 win, which was consolidated by Paul Griffiths winning 3-0 with an average of 25.47.

Daz Paul was next to the oche and produced the best display of the night winning 3-1 and averaging an impressive 26.20. Dave Sheppard (20.31) kept the good work going with a 3-0 win.

Yeovil managed to win the last of the singles, the game was in the balance going into the doubles, with the 49ers winning 22-21.

The 49ers didn’t disappoint taking the pairs 14-9, wins for Hayes and Thirkettle 3-1, Harding and Sheppard 3-3, Paul and Griffiths 3-0, and Anderson and Hadley 3-0, ensured the 49ers came away with a superb 36-30 victory.

Joint captains Mike Harding and John Burton were delighted with the team performance and atmosphere. Man of the match was awarded to Daz Paul.
