Weston Swimming Club members took part in the annual championships held at Hutton Moor.

AGED from seven to 17 years, 120 Weston Swimming Club members slugged it out against each other in the club’s annual championships at Hutton Moor.

Kindly sponsored by Parklands Financial Services, the packed galleries witnessed some fantastic performances, from novice swimmers holding it together to execute heats with perfect technique, to more established members gaining county qualifying times and medals, to the seasoned swimmers, breaking some long-standing club records.

The club’s swimmers are enjoying an incredibly rich vein of form so far this season. In the National Arena League, with one round to go at Dorchester, the club are set to record their highest Premier Division finish, punching way above their weight against the big city and hub clubs such as Plymouth, Exeter, Cardiff, Swansea, Bournemouth and Millfield.

The younger swimmers have already finished a hugely creditable fifth place in the Southern Junior League and amassed a whole host of trophies at the recent Bristol North gala.

The club’s top swimmers, already picked up by the England Talent Programme, will be swimming at the ASA South West Region short-course championships in December, then the zonals at the London Olympic Pool in January.

The county and regional squads will be showcasing their great talent in the Yeovil & District Meet at Millfield in late December. All of these galas serve as a warm up to the Somerset County Championships in March, where Team Weston will be serving the town proud once more.
