Weston Athletic Club members took part in a six-mile off-road race at Wrington.
A SIX-mile off-road circuit set the scene for Weston Athletic Club’s members for the Wrington Woodland race.
The route includes some lengthy climbs and descents to challenge runners, but Weston’s teams came out fighting, despite many of the participants having completed marathons in April.
The club’s men and women each took second prize in the overall team standings, and several members placed in their age category.
Nick Briffitt finished fourth overall, and first in his age category in a time of 39.20. Pete Clark was next to finish for the club in 40.17 and Andy Chadburn took third spot in 41.07.
Adrian Noble and John Hinchliffe both came second in their categories, finishing in 41.26 and 48.48 respectively.
Jules Pflaum remains on top form, and finished second overall for the women in 45.27 - her second race placing in less than a week - and second in her category. Cheryl Valentine finished in 48.54 and Helen Diamond in 58.00.
The club’s next race is the final Weston prom run in the current series on May 21. The main five-mile race starts at 7.30pm, and is preceded by the one-mile race at 6.45pm.
