WITH success on and off the field, these are exciting times at Hutton Moor Park, as Hornets have strengthened their links with the Brandon Trust, a charity which supports people with learning disabilities.

This achievement has been recognised by the Brandon Trust nationally when their communications director visited the club to present the club and its members with the charities ‘Rising Star Award’.

The charity efforts do not stop there, as Hornets have also taken the decision to have a designated charity each year, with the prostate cancer charity being chosen by the membership for this year.

So far, they are well on the way to raising 1,500 thanks to the efforts of players, coaches and supporters taking part in Movember and several other events at the club.

Plans are now well advanced to celebrate the clubs 50th anniversary in 2012. The main event will be a dinner and dance to be held at the Winter Gardens, Weston, on May 19, 2012. Tickets will be going on sale in May this year. For further information, contact the club on 621433 or email Paul Davidson, p.a.d.electrical@btinternet.com.

Finally, this season has been an exciting one with all three senior sides performing well in their respective leagues, and the 1st XV also reaching the semi-final stages of the Somerset Vase.

The Colts side which won the league, cup and reached the final of the National Cup last year, are also having a wonderful season and have everything set up to mirror that success again this season. However, not willing to rest on their laurels, Hornets are looking to strengthen their coaching set-up by recruiting a player-coach in the backs to assist Phil Hogarth, as he looks to build on the success of his first season in charge.
