Wind in short supply for Weston sailors

Weston Bay Yacht Club's first couple of races found sailors struggling to find enough wind.

Weston Bay Yacht Club’s racing season officially opened on April 7, but due to virtually no wind, it never even started.

In the next race, five boats were out in the bay, but only three taking part. The three yachts tacked for all they were worth trying to find a little extra wind. The wind refused to increase and so the course was shortened.

With only two boats crossing the finish line, Charles Porter on Jehad took the honours (78.4 mins) and first place in his lightweight racer, followed by Steve Caiger in his smaller, but no less abled Dragon (92.8mins), with Les Willis close but unfortunately getting a DNF.

The next race is on May 5, with a 10am start.
