Winscombe Bowling Club opened their 2022 season on Saturday.
Lorna Whatling, wife of the vice president, officially opened the green by sending down the first wood.
And a spider competition, played for a bottle of whisky, was held in aid of the club's charity, South West Children's Hospice.
A total of 60 members, the biggest for many years, took part in the traditional President v Captain's opening day match, with some having to play a half game to accomodate all across seven rinks.
President Mike Adams saw his team come out on top by a 137-114 margin, but captain Ken Whatling had some consolation with a win on his rink.
An enjoyable supper was served to more members, including many newcomers who have taken advantage of free membership of the club in their first year.
Winscombe will have two open days for anyone who wants to try the game on Sunday April 24 and May 8, from 2-4pm.
