A DISASTROUS batting performance from Winscombe’s 1st XI led to defeat as they hosted Bishops Lydeard.

The visitors elected to bat first and lost a wicket in the first over when Jordan Peters ran out opener Miles Skuse. Lydeard continued to score freely despite the efforts of Jory Cureton (1-59), Clough (0-34), Jordan Peters (1-52), Jack Fraser (2-45), Iain Fraser (2-41) and Zain Patel (1-47) as the visitors totalled 285 in their 50 overs.

Winscombe’s innings started poorly, with Rob Bradley being caught in the slips in the second over for nought. Winscombe failed to build partnerships with Cureton (6), Fraser (5) and Patel (3) departing soon after to a mixture of decent bowling and woeful shot making.

Some resistance came in the form of Jon Reeves (21) and James Durrans-Paul (21). Jordan Peters (14) and Iain Fraser (29) showed some fight to keep the visitors fielding, with the skipper marshalling his partner as they looked to build a partnership. However, Winscombe were eventually bowled out for a disappointing 120.
