Winscombe moved up to third spot in the league after beating Bagborough.

WINSCOMBE’S visitors Bagborough made a late arrival at the Rec due to motorway traffic and the hosts made the most of their rushed arrival by making early inroads into the visitors’ batting line-up.

Bagborough were reduced to 91-7 as Cureton (2-45), Milnes-Win (1-40), Coe (1-21) and Peters (2-25) bowled well as a unit. A return to swing bowling action for Goodrum also brought well deserved rewards (3-28).

Bagborough rallied through their captain Bishop who made 73 as they totalled 174 before being bowled out.

Winscombe made a reasonable start but lost five wickets for 19 runs in moving to 45-5. The experienced Bailey looked comfortable rebuilding before being dismissed for 19, when Lunn arrived at the crease to join skipper Mike Coe.

The pair batted superbly to add 93 for the seventh wicket, taking Winscombe to the brink of victory. Coe departed for 79 and it was left to Lunn (39 not out) to hit the winning runs as Winscombe won by three wickets to move up to third in the table.
