Winscombe A were edged out of the Challenge Cup after Cleeve beat them in a penalty shoot-out.

Winscombe caretaker manager Andrew Ware did not get off to a desired start, eventually losing on penalties to a determined Cleeve side.

The cup tie pitted top versus bottom in Division 3. Winscombe made the mistake of thinking the game would be a formality, going 1-0 up early courtesy of Foncette.
The visitors subsequently took the foot off the gas and found themselves 4-1 down after half-an-hour. Jack Milton went from hero to villain giving away a fourth penalty in as many weeks. Foncette scored his second from the penalty spot to makes the score 4-2 at the break.

The players received a half-time dressing down and came out a different side. Norris scored a stunning 40-yard goal to make it 4-3, but disaster struck when Jones was tackled and Cleeve were 5-3 up with 10 minutes remaining.
Winscombe threw everything they had at Cleeve and Zach Chung-Li produced a moment of individual brilliance to smash the ball into the top corner to give Winscombe hope and moments later Ware slotted the ball in for 5-5.
Extra time ensued and Winscombe continued where they had left off, but just could not put the ball in the net. The game was eventually settled on penalties with Bush and Michael sending their kicks into orbit and sum up a poor all-round performance.
