Allen and Spinks lost both rubbers, but In the second rubber they lost by the tightest of margins 7-5, 6-7, 6-7.

Treen and Wheeler picked up one rubber 7-5, 7-5 but were crushed in the second match 6-3, 6-0.

Peter Foster returned from his studies to help the B team record their first maximum points of a difficult season, against a weakened Wells team. Fletcher and Southwell maintained their consistent form and were matched by Foster and Bushby, all four rubbers being won in straight sets.
