Ashton & Backwell Res 2

THIS was Worle’s first home game of the season in their new changing rooms and was the only game played in the division.

Having gained an away point last Saturday, Worle needed a win to kickstart their season.

Worle dominated much of the possession, but still made errors in the first-half to go in at the break two goals down. Worle hit the woodwork three times, but two defensive errors allow Ashton to score twice.

Mike Hodrien hit the crossbar with a shot from 30 yards and chances fell to Dan Sandic, Rich Bushell and Adrian, but the home side could not find a way through.

The second half saw Worle come out with renewed enthusiasm and pulled a goal back through Tommy Hall, his third in three games.

Adrian and Dan Sandic were a constant thorn in the Ashton defence and it was no surprise when Adrian pulled the sides level when he outpaced two defenders and beat the away keeper.

Worle were dominant and Sandic chased the keeper down forcing him into spilling the ball and he then calmly slotted his first goal for the club.

Worle need to keep this mini run going away on Saturday to an in-form Creech North Curry side. Man of the match was Dan Sandic.

Plaudits must go to the Worle committee, who worked tirelessly to get the changing rooms and the pitch completed to enable this game to go ahead.

WRINGTON-Redhill Football Club is a holding a fund-raising day for the Crossroads Young Carers (North Somerset) charity on February 2.

The first team’s new away kit has the logo and the charity name and will be used for the next two years.
