Worle left it late to reach the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup, scoring four goals in the last 10 minutes.

Worle Rangers 5

Uphill Castle Res 2

RANGERS fought their way through to the Challenge Cup semi-final after a tight game against Uphill Castle.

Rangers put the visitors under early pressure, winning an early penalty which Shane Quick fired home. The back-line stood strong to Uphill attacks, Brown, Quick, Hannam and Milsom covering well, with keeper Jakeman showing a safe pair of hands.

After the break, Uphill forced Jakeman into a superb double-save, before they created an equaliser. Uphill had the momentum and scored a second with 10 minutes remaining.

Facing a cup exit against a strong side, Rangers duly scored four goals without reply through Dale (2), another Quick penalty and one for Dugmore.

The Curry Garden man of the match went to skipper Jake Hannam.

Shipham 2

Banwell Res 2

SHIPHAM followed up their win last week with a battling 2-2 draw with Banwell.

They took the lead on 15 minutes when a Lewis Brian thunderbolt of a free kick found its target, but Banwell equalised on 35 minutes. Shipham went 2-1 ahead just a minute later when a Kyle Hobden cross got a touch from Jamie White to score.

The second half saw Shipham come under pressure, but they battled hard and still managed to find opportunities to attack. Banwell were awarded a penalty, but keeper Hughes made a fine save, but two minutes later, Banwell equalised when their player hit a shot into the top corner.

Man of the match went to Sam Hughes.

Hutton Res 0

Wrington Redhill Res 3

WRINGTON Redhill Reserves picked up another three valuable points in their quest for promotion.

In the first-half, Wrington had the advantage of a strong wind, but could not take advantage. Hutton kept trying to create chances, but they could not get through Wrington’s five-man midfield of captain Nick Buck, Dan Burnett, Louie Rouvrais, Tom Johnson and Joe Moore as both sides went at the break all square.

At the start of the second half, Wrington started pressing forward and Johnson opened the scoring on 50 minutes. Manager Julian Moss introduced James Marshall up front and this proved to be the turning point of the game as Mick Edmunds fired an unstoppable shot into the back of the net.

It was Edmunds who made the game safe, putting Wrington three up on the 80-minute mark and moved them up into second in the table.

Wrington’s Bristol City Construction man of the match award went to Mick Edmunds.
