Husband-and-wife Mervyn and Sue Kinch came out on top at Worlebury Golf Club's mixed greensomes stableford to claim the Philpott Trophy.

On another dry, sunny, but breezy Sunday, they combined for 44 points to finish ahead of another husband-and-wife duo in Graham and Sam Hewlett and father-and-daughter pairing Ken and Lauren Hanson.

The Kinches scored 22 points on the front nine, despite failing to score on the ninth, and doubled their tally coming back, with a birdie and nine pars in total.

The Hewletts, also playing off 18, were one point behind at the turn but could not claw back that deficit on the inward nine, while the Hansons - playing off nine - went out in gross two under par for 24 points, after birdies on the first, second and seventh.

They found the back nine tougher, adding 19 points to finish third on countback.

The Ladies held their April Stableford, with Janet Jamieson (19) taking Division One honours ahead of Sally Dawkins (15) and Helen Clark (14).

Jamieson was one under par at the turn, collecting 19 points, and added another 18 on the back nine, as Dawkins followed up her outward 14 points with an impressive 21.

Clark played the more consistent golf with eight pars in total and a one-over par outward 37 and level-par 37 coming back for her 35-point haul.

In Division Two, the best two scores of the day were recorded by Patricia Smith and runner-up Sam Hewlett.

Smith (28) had an amazing 23 points on the front nine and 17 on the back nine, despite a couple of no scores, while Hewlett (20) had a slow front nine and was one-over par at the turn with 17 points, before a three-under par back nine and 21 points.

Lynne Pope (21) took third with 35 points, scoring 18 on the front nine and 17 points on the back nine.
