TWO young C & C Vipers' players in the Archdale cup against Totterdown C turned in good performances, Callum Parkins, aged 11, and Jade Cope (14), both on 15 handicaps, played well against their more experienced opponents, scoring good points with both forehand and backhand attacking shots. Parkins beat Totterdown's Gary Chell (10) in three with close games against Mark Price (10) and Mike Cross (10). Cope's success was against Price. Mark Hill (4) also with a win over Price completed the Vipers' three points, Totterdown going through 6-3.Winscombe Warriors up against C & C Cobras found their handicaps too great a hurdle despite all playing well with close sets. James Bessant (15) and Simon Thomas (14) won all three; Warren Taylor (15) fell to Warriors' Anne Baker (10) in three, Baker also having a close contest against Bessant. Margaret Parker (15) lost narrowly to both Bessant and Taylor. Cobras won the march 8-1.Top of Group A Walton Wanderers overcame Vets B 6-3, Bill Bruton (-3) needing all his skills to beat Jon Codd (6) in three games, Roger Norville (11) in two and Tony Chedgy (10) also three. Norville beat Vic Davies (0) and Keith Ambrose (3) needing all three games. Codd managed to keep Davies at bay for another point, Wanderers running out winners 6-3.
