THE Coral’s singer James Skelly brings his new band to Bristol this summer.
James Skelly and The Intruders will be touring their debut album Love Undercover, playing Bristol’s nautical Thekla venue on June 14.
The self-produced recording was made at Liverpool’s famous Parr Street studios, favourite spot of bands including Doves, Echo And The Bunnymen and Bjork.
Skelly said: “The Coral stuff was all a bit more abstract I guess. These songs are really direct, straight to the point.”
The work sees the Wirral man take a new approach to his song writing with songs being developed in collaboration with his new band members.
He added: “The name is about letting people know it’s not just me and an acoustic guitar.
“I had the songs, but it became a proper group thing very quickly with everyone involved having a big input.
“It’s that Bruce Springsteen And The E Street Band, Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers idea.”
Tickets priced £10.50 are available online at www.gigs andtours.com
