Jesy Nelson has said she is “beyond proud” after her documentary was nominated for a National Television Award (NTA).
The singer’s Amazon Prime documentary, Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix, was nominated in the authored documentary category.
Reacting to the news, Nelson shared a post on Instagram in which she said: “I honestly can’t believe this. Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix has been shortlisted for an NTA in the Authored Documentary Category.
“This series was so personal to me and my girls and I’m beyond proud of what we created. Thank you for all the love and support you’ve shown us along the way, it means more than you know.
“If you’d like to keep supporting us, please vote! Link is in my bio.”
After winning The X Factor in 2011, Little Mix went on to become one of the most successful British pop groups of all time, scoring 19 UK top 10 singles including five number ones, and seven top 10 albums, including a number one, until their hiatus in 2022.
Nelson was the first to depart in December 2020, leaving her bandmates Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards to continue without her until 2022.
Released in February, Nelson’s six-part documentary series followed her life outside the girl band, including her pregnancy, struggles with the pressure of fame and her mental health battles.
The 35-year-old said she initially wanted to film the documentary to give her something to “watch back with my girls”.
However, within two days of filming, she found out she had twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) and had to undergo an emergency procedure due to the condition, which the NHS says is caused by abnormal connecting blood vessels in the placenta which leads to an imbalanced blood flow from one twin to the other.

“No-one could have ever prepared me for what was then about to play out,” she said.
“I’m just so grateful, even though it was horrific – and it’s still ongoing, the stuff that I’ve been through – that the cameras were there to film it.”
At the time of its release, Nelson added that she wanted to “raise awareness about all the stuff I’ve been through” as well as her twin daughters’ diagnosis.
Nelson gave birth to twins Ocean Jade and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster prematurely in May last year with fiance Zion Foster.
However, in January she revealed that they had since been diagnosed with the rare genetic condition spinal muscular atrophy.
She went on to be followed by cameras for a second documentary – Jesy Nelson: Life Changing, which sees her fight to change UK newborn screening laws.
Nelson also previously won an NTA for factual entertainment following the release of her documentary Odd One Out, which detailed her struggles with body image, mental health and online bullying.

The other documentaries that Life After Little Mix has been nominated alongside in this year’s awards are Caroline Flack: Search For The Truth, Sharon & Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, Our Girls: The Southport Families and Sir Chris Hoy: Cancer, Courage And Me.
