The search is on for talented youngsters to fill lead roles in the stage production of one of Dickens best-loved works - Oliver Twist.Worle Operatic and Dramatic Society has announced that its autumn show at The Playhouse, Weston, will be the popular family musical, Oliver!Youngsters wishing to be involved in the show, from November 22-24, are invited to attend a workshop and open auditions, with those selected performing alongside characters such as Fagin, Nancy, Bill Sykes and Mr Bumble. Show director, Jeff Prescott, said: "We are looking for talented young boys aged between nine and 15 to play a variety of chorus roles, as well as youngsters to play the title role of Oliver and the The Artful Dodger. "Those selected will need to have lots of energy and enthusiasm and be able to act, sing and dance."A workshop will be held for all young performers wishing to be part of the cast on Sunday at Hutton Village Hall from 10am-1pm and auditions for Oliver and Dodger will be held on June 24 at the same venue. Organisers are advising auditioning youngsters to wear comfortable clothing such as tracksuit trousers and bring dancing shoes or plimsolls if they have them.
